Microfiction: Told Ya So

6 words:
"Guess what? I loved you more."

25 words:
"Before you hang up, I want to tell you something."
"What is it?"
"I was right."
"What?"
"I was right. I told you that I love you more."

Author's Note:
For this assignment, I drew inspiration from my roommate who went through a breakup a month or so ago. Their sort of catch phrase they would say to each other when saying goodbye was "love you more." I imagined that in these short stories, a couple had just separated, and that the person who was broken up with realizes the ironic twist in finally being able to say that they love their partner more then their partner loves them.

  1. Hi James! Despite the little amount of words, they speak so much. Love can be hard, especially since we're in a period of our life where we're still learning about ourselves and what we want from our lives and others. Heartbreak is such a visceral feeling and you captured that in these 2 stories. I think we're all familiar with this situation whether it be through personal experience or friends. Heartbreak is a part of life, but hopefully it's something we can all grow from.
